The Second failure

Reality pierced into my heart? Was it true? I kept recounting the marks but nevertheless, they still added up to 19. Only one more mark before I pass the Exam!!! Why is heaven so cruel? Perhaps heaven wants me to realise that failures in life are inevitable or that I am not meant to do Science? I'm not sure.............all I know is that I had better work hard for the mid-year Exams or I'll never be able to forgive myself...........

My first failure

For the first time in my life, I failed in something. I was filled with remorse the moment I looked at the paper. Did I study enough? Half the paper was filled with crosses and zeros. I had gotten 17/50 for my HMT Exam! Although I was not the only one who failed, I felt my results were 100 times worse than anyone else in class. The Chinese teacher then explained the questions. But I wasn't listening. My marks were to me of much more importance than the explanation. Later, the Chinese teacher told us that our papers had to be signed by our parents. I could see their disappointed faces and hear their scoldings as clear as the sky. I was second for Maths. I was second in History. I was first in running. But yet I failed my HMT Exam! Everthing started to close in around me. The future seemed bleak..................

Morning (5.45am-10.00am) : Woke up at 5.45am but decided that it was too early and slept for 15 minutes more..............ended up almost late. Rushed to school almost forgot my tie and , as usual, copy homework from friends. Unexpectedly, the dentist called for me and with apprehension, I hurried to the dentist trailer. The scaling treatment followed the check-up. It was horrible. It was like my teeth and gums were drilled and there were fountains of 'water' spouting from my mouth. The sensation was like being half-conscious since the fountain effect had a hypnotizing effect. Later, I went for reccess, my mouth numb.
Late Morning and Early Afternoon (10.00am-3.00pm) : There was D&T lesson after reccess. As all my classmates were buffing their acrylic, I decided to sand mine, since I am always behind time. Science lesson swept by with no exciting events. But alas, there was Chinese History Exam immediately after. I had tried to do some cramming yesterday but to no avail. It was tough. I slogged through the Exam and as soon as it was over, I knew that I had barely passed. After school, just as I went to the Art Room, I saw Mdm Lidia (My Art teacher) who was about 7 months pregnant. Then, I went to cut out the ncessary Art materials when she finally noticed me and told me how much she loved my caricature. (It looked like a crossbreed of me, a clown and and a 70's hippie) As soon as I finished cutting.................I ran out of the classroom, hoping that there were no more disgusting comments.

Yesterday was a rather peaceful and quiet Saturday since my sisters and my mother was out shopping. I chose to stay at home instead of accompanying them. (reason being that I could avoid scoldings and quarrels at the same time) Haha.............then suddenly, I was alerted of a news so bewildering by my maid who came rushing to my parents' room. MY SCHOOL SHORTS FELL TO THE FOURTH STOREY. It was impossible. I hurried to the first floor to look at the situation. In deed. what my maid said was TRUE. My shorts were hanging on the windows on one of the fourth storey unit. Then , I rushed to the unit and knocked at the door...........but to no avail, the owners were not at home. Desperately, I took out a pen and a piece of paper and wrote the most polite of English that I can manage. I then slipped the piece of paper into the door slit and went back home with my maid tailing behind, hoping that my shorts could be retrieved. My prayers were answersed. I heaved a sigh of relief.
Later in the day, I went to a friend's house forr visiting alone. Apparently, my classmates were always busy on Saturdays so they can't make it. Only I took the trouble to visit her (she lived in a semi-detached in Marsiling) and it took me so long to reach her houde from the MRT station. Luckily, I found my way and was soon waiting outside her house. Lets just call this friend Alicia. Alicia then opened the gate and soon both of us were talking about homework and events in Anderson. When I was told by Alicia's mother that we could go upstairs and play the Playstation 2, the news came as a pleasent surprise. Our fingers were jamming on the buttons of the controller as we battled each other in the game of Bloody War 3. As expected, she won most of the rounds. There was a time where we ramdomly chose our characters and during half the time, we chose the same. Time always flies when you are having fun. When the clock sruck 6.30pm, I knew it was time to go. I waved goodbye to Alicia and her mother and started my way home.
There was the usual mahjong game my mother hosted every Saturday and I sat behind her with fiery intensity. It was always like this and I knew she was getting used to this arrangement. However, my mind could not keep up with the game anymore and I went to bed...............................at 10.30pm on a Saturday night.

Today is one heck of a day. There are so many surprising and upsetting events..........like getting only 12.5 for my HMT letter writing out of twenty............it may seem very little to you, but to meit is the world. I'm glad I didn't fail. Following next is the science exam. Are teachers crazy? Sometimes they just seem to set the hardest of papers and saying that it will be easy. Who do they think we are? Einsteins? No matter, I did my best (which is actually very lousy)and that is what that counts. Nevermind if I'm going to fail, I'm already mentally prepared. Talk about after school activities, like CCA, which sap up so much of your leisure time. Choir tore my voice down, from being able to chatter for an hour without stopping to a voice which sends out wisps of cries. So much difference isn't it? However, being one of the least stressful CCA for the moment, who can complain? A game of Mahjong would soon relax my tired soul. That's what I did. I played with my sisters. As usual, I won every round.

If there is anything more feared than expulsion, its the HMT exam. Its comprehension dazzle you with a bombarding of many difficult chinese characterst. The time that you were given was always not enough and understanding the passage take up half the total time given. Sometimes you would rather die than to complete half the questions. That's what I experienced today....I left 2 questions completely blank since the time limit did not permit me to finish them. I had better prepare to fail.
Enough about HMT exams........there are evn more terryfying news. I nearly failed my English comprehension. The digit 15 was so precariously close to the FAIL mark. (Full marks is 25) Thank Goodness that I didn't fail..................half my class did.
